Heads up: some links are affiliate links. If you buy through them we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. How we make money.
Make (make.com) connects the apps you already use so routine work happens on its own. Here are 5 starter scenarios a small business can build in an afternoon, plus what they cost in Make credits.
FTC disclosure: FirstHire earns a commission if you sign up through some links on this page (Fireflies and Make), at no extra cost to you. That never changes our verdicts. How we make money.
How we researched: vendor pricing pages and help docs, read Nov 2026. Prices change; check the vendor page before you buy. We have not run long-term tests yet and will say so when we do.
How Make bills (read this first)
- Free: 1,000 credits a month, 2 active scenarios, checks every 15 minutes.
- Core: about $16/mo monthly or $12/mo billed yearly for 10,000 credits (US pricing, Oct-Nov 2026).
- Most actions cost 1 credit. A scheduled trigger spends a credit every time it checks, even when nothing is new, so check less often to save credits.
5 starter scenarios
1. Website form to CRM to welcome email
Trigger: new form entry (Google Forms, Typeform, Jotform). Actions: create a contact in your CRM, send a welcome email. About 3 credits per lead.
2. New invoice paid to thank-you note + spreadsheet log
Trigger: payment in Stripe or QuickBooks. Actions: add a row to Google Sheets, email a thank-you. Gives you a simple sales log without manual typing.
3. Meeting notes to task list
Trigger: a finished meeting summary (for example from Fireflies). Actions: create tasks in Trello, Asana or Google Tasks for each action item. See our Fireflies review.
4. New review alert
Trigger: new Google review or a form complaint. Action: send a text or Slack message to the owner so nothing sits unanswered.
5. Job applicant intake
Trigger: application form. Actions: save resume to Google Drive, add a row to a hiring sheet, send a "we got it" email. Pairs with our hiring guides.
Watch out for
- Polling triggers burn credits. Use instant (webhook) triggers where available.
- Scenarios fail quietly when an app login expires. Turn on error email alerts.
- Do a process by hand 10 times before you automate it.
Who should skip Make
If you need only one or two simple links between big apps, the free plan or a built-in integration may be enough.
