Gusto charges a monthly base fee plus a fee per person. Its 2026 pricing page lists:
| Plan | Base | Per person | 1 employee |
|---|---|---|---|
| Simple | $49/mo | $6/mo | $55/mo |
| Plus | $80/mo | $12/mo | $92/mo |
| Premium | $180/mo | $22/mo | $202/mo |
What costs extra
- On Simple, next-day pay and time tracking are paid add-ons.
- State tax registration is an add-on on every plan, priced by state.
- Paying people in more than one state requires Plus or higher.
When it's worth it
At one to three employees, the base fee is most of the bill. If you pay only yourself or a couple of contractors, a cheaper tool may fit better. See who should skip Gusto.
